Deoxynivalenol is a mycotoxin of the trichothecenes family. It crosses the intestinal mucosa by a paracellular pathway through the tight junctions. Deoxynivalenol transport is not affected by P-glycoprotein (PgP) or multidrug resistance-associated proteins (MRPs) inhibitors.
