Pactimibe is a ACAT inhibitor. Pactimibe stabilizes atherosclerotic plaque through macrophage acyl-cholesterol acyltransferase inhibition in WHHL rabbits. Pactimibe sulfate reduces and stabilizes atherosclerotic lesions by cholesterol-lowering and direct effects in apolipoprotein E-deficient mice.
