Background:
λ-Carrageenan is a naturally occurring compound which has been used to to generate and study models of inflammation and arthritic pain. Unlike κ- and ι-carageenans (sc-213226 and sc-216083, respectively), λ-carrageenans do not form helices and are non-gelling.
