Background:

Prostaglandin F_2α-d₉(PGF_2α-d₉) contains nine deuterium atoms at the 17, 17', 18, 18', 19, 19', 20, 20, and 20 positions. It is intended for use as an internal standard for the quantification of PGF_2αby GC-or LC-mass spectrometry. PGF_2αis a widely distributed PG occurring in many species.^1,2,3It causes contraction of vascular, bronchial, intestinal, and myometrial smooth muscle, and also exhibits potent luteolytic activity.¹PGF_2αexerts its receptor mediated physiological activity at 50-100 nM.¹Maximal ovine myometrial contraction can be achieved at 125 nM PGF_2αin vitro.⁴
