Background:
Penicolinate B is a fungal metabolite originally isolated fromPenicilliumthat has diverse biological activities.1It is active againstM. tuberculosis(MIC = 25 µg/ml), as well asP. falciparum,B. cereus, andC. albicans(IC50s = 1.4, 25, and 3.67 µg/ml, respectively). Penicolinate B is cytotoxic to MCF-7, KB, NCI H187, and Vero cells (IC50s = 6.21, 17.78, 0.307, and 2.79 µg/ml, respectively).
