Background:

Dabigatran etexilate-d₁₃is intended for use as an internal standard for the quantification of dabigatran etexilate by GC- or LC-MS. Dabigatran etexilate is a double prodrug that undergoesin vivohydrolytic cleavage to produce dabigatran , a potent thrombin inhibitor (K_i= 4.5 nM).^1,2Dabigatran etexilate shows antithrombotic efficacy in animal models of thrombosis, with a rapid onset of action.²It is not metabolized by cytochrome P450 isozymes and has a low potential for drug-drug interactions.
