Background:

(+)-Sorokinianin is a phytotoxic fungal metabolite originally isolated fromB. sorokiniana.¹It inhibits germination of barley (H. vulgare) seeds when used at a concentration of 300 µM. (+)-Sorokinianin is cytotoxic to protoplasts isolated from barley first leaves (IC₅₀= 150 µM).
