背景信息：

寡糖基转移酶（OST）复合物的催化亚单位，对定义的聚糖（真核生物中的Glc（3）Man（9）GlcNAc（2））从脂质载体焦磷酸多利酚转移到新生多肽链中Asn-X-Ser/Thr共有基序内的天冬酰胺残基进行催化，这是蛋白质N-糖基化的第一步。N-糖基化以共翻译方式发生，该复合物与介导蛋白质跨内质网（ER）易位的通道形成易位子复合物处的Sec61复合物相关。所有亚基都是酶活性最大化所必需的。该亚单位包含活性部位、受体肽和供体脂链寡糖（LLO）结合囊。STT3A存在于大多数OST复合物中，并介导靶蛋白上大多数位点的共翻译N-糖基化，而含有STT3B的复合物需要有效的翻译后糖基化和介导STT3A跳过的位点的糖基化。
