Nonactin is an ionophore antibiotic nonactin that permeabilizes cell membranes to NH4+ and K(+). Nonactin, when exposed to erythrocytes, causes erythrocyte shrinkage and subsequent erythrocyte membrane scrambling. References: Peter T, Bissinger R, Lang F.
