Aquastatin A is a potent inhibitor of mammalian adenosine triphosphatases and naturally occurring fungal metabolite isolated from F. aquaeductuum with diverse biological activities against S. aureus. It inhibits enoyl-acyl carrier protein reductase and S. aureus fatty acid synthesis. Aquastatin A also inhibits the Na+/K+-ATPase and H+/K+-ATPase with an IC50 value of 7.1 μM and 6.2 μM, respectively.
