Moxidectin is a macrocyclic lactone anthelmintic drug used to control or prevent parasitic worms. Its principal use is veterinary, in animals ranging from cats and dogs to horses and cattle. Moxidectin-susceptible parasites includeStrongylus vulgarisin horses andOstertagia ostertagiin cattle. In 2018, moxidectin was approved by FDA for treating onchocerciasis (river-blindness) caused by the parasitic wormOnchocerca volvulus.

Dosage form	0.4 mg/kg Anthelmintic drug in pastes applied to the base of the tongue
Applications	Moxidectin was highly effective in reducing faecal egg counts after treatment for at least 12 weeks and up to 16 weeks in most horses.
