Argipressin Acetate (AVP) is a peptide hormone with antidiuretic and vasoconstrictive activities, and plays an important part in circulatory and water homoeostasis. It is produced by anterior hypothalamus nerve cells. Argipressin acts via V1A receptors in blood vessels, causing vasoconstriction, and via V2 receptors in the renal tubules, causing anti-diuresis.
Argipressin Acetate salt has been used to evoke peripheral V1a receptor-mediated vasoconstriction, and as a supplement in Ham′s F12/Dulbecco′s modified Eagle′s medium for proximal tubule and glomerular explant cell culture.
Argipressin Acetate salt dissolves water at 20 mg/ml to yield a clear colorless to faint yellow solution.
